Kirusa strengthens its platform for mobile applications with three new patents
Thursday, January 24, 2008, New Providence, New Jersey; Kirusa, the inventor of Voice SMS and a leading mobile value-added services provider, has been awarded U.S. patent number 7275217 titled "System and method for multi-modal browsing with integrated update feature", U.S. patent number 7289606 titled "Mode-swapping in multi-modal telephonic applications" and U.S. patent number 7277697 titled "Method and system for establishing a teleconference over a telephone network", adding new coverage to its patent portfolio.
The first and second patents deal with multimodal applications. As an example application, you could be listening to the playback of a message and then switch over to looking at a textual or pictorial feature of the message. The first patent deals with a method for making the switching of modes easier and faster, while the second is coverage of the concept of swapping modes. The third patent deals with methods for establishing a teleconference among participants who may be using incompatible communications tools (e.g. a telephone and IM).
